Meet the Team: Hello, Tyler

A Fauquier local through and through, Meridian Investment Analyst, Tyler Fetherolf, grew up in Bealeton and graduated from Liberty High School. A passion and talent for baseball and numbers put him on the path to Averett University in pursuit of a career in sports marketing. After graduating cum laude with a double major in both Accounting and Marketing Management, a summer internship at Meridian turned into a full-time job here in the heart of Warrenton. He still crunches numbers for a living, but these days his time is spent figuring out where money should or shouldn’t be invested, not doing taxes.

If money has ever moved into or out of your portfolio, Tyler is probably the one who did it. Tyler is our team’s unsung hero – he’s the guy behind the scenes trading accounts, building models, researching funds, and determining which new funds should be added to our portfolios. And he knows every client’s name.

Between his career and a lifelong love of baseball, he has learned that success in life can be directly tied back to the relationships you cultivate. He finds joy in coming to work every day because of Meridian’s family-like atmosphere and its close-knit community of clients.

Through baseball, he found deep-rooted friendships in his teammates and coaches, and now continues to be inspired to give back to the community by coaching for the same organization he played for as a kid. Baseball, and the sacrifices he made to play, gave him opportunities in life. Tyler might even tell you that without baseball, he may not have the career he has today. It’s this mindset of accountability and resilience that he tries to instill in the young players he works with.

When he’s not coaching baseball or turning numbers into decisions, Tyler loves to spend time working around the newly purchased home in Fauquier County that he shares with his long-time girlfriend, Kira. Together, they have two dogs, a cat, and horse.

Oh yeah…and p.s., he completed his Masters in Accounting from Averett University in 2020 while working for Meridian.

Without further ado, here’s the “tea” on Tyler:

What are your favorite hobbies?

Attending live sports games – I’m a lifelong Yankees fan, I still love to support the local teams – woodworking, and being on the water, fishing.

What is your favorite book/movie?

Moneyball – both my favorite book and my favorite movie have the same name. In college, I took a class called Literature Through Film, where we studied the book which talks about the statistics and analysis behind the movie.

What was your first job?

Tiny Tots Daycare Counselor

What are your bucket list vacation spots?

I would love to go bass fishing in Japan, and while I’m there, I’d like to shop for Japanese lures, rods, and baseball gloves directly – their quality is so much better and much cheaper there.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received? Or a quote that speaks to you?

Derek Jeter: “There may be people who have more talent than you, but there’s no excuse for anyone to work harder than you do.” This quote has stuck with me all of my life –through putting in hours extra of practice, to furthering my career, through additional education, and is reflected in my work ethic.
