What Issues Should I Consider When Reviewing My RMD?
Overview
Required minimum distributions come with a strict deadline and a real penalty for missing it, which makes them worth double-checking every year rather than assuming last year's process still applies. Account balances change, and so, occasionally, do the rules.
The RMD amount itself is only part of the picture. Where the distribution comes from, how it's withheld for taxes, and whether a qualified charitable distribution makes sense are all worth a look before the money moves.
